Anthony Logan

Our first featured elder friend is Brooklyn native, Anthony Logan. During his spare time, Anthony writes beautiful poems that are inspired by God and Spoken from within. Thus far Anthony has mainly shared these writings with a lucky few. We are honored to publish and share his work on our Website and want to thank him for sharing his talent with others.

My name is Anthony Logan, and I was born on June 21st, 1952 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Ever since I was a child, I always enjoyed writing because it was another way to express myself. I have been through many trials and tribulations in my life, and I can say with confidence, that I am a firm believer in God, because he was the only one to see me through all of it. When I write, I am inspired by his love and grace, and this gives me the motivation to continue to write about his goodness and all that he has done for me. Through my writings, I hope to lead someone to know how awesome he is. I also hope to inspire a young writer someday.

The Lord Comforts Me

Whenever I feel that a tear is near
You wipe my eyes and say my son have no fear
I shall forever be there
I have lived my life
Complicated and angry not knowing who to trust
Everyone was a stranger
But since you put a lock on my heart
And gave me a brand new start
And told me I can touch the stars
My life has become calm as a summer breeze
My thoughts flow so free like the winter trees
It is your name I shall call in my times of need
I know you will answer my call and forever take heed

I See God

I see God in me I can see the God in you
I can feel the presence of God through the things we may say or do
God is love God is kind God is forgiving
Live your life for God and the sun will always shine
Walk with love on your mind and keep God in your heart
And no power or force will be able to tear you apart
So let Him lead you and guide you every step of the way
And you will always have a better and brighter day

I Love Jesus

Dear Lord as I go on in life living in your will
Continue to guide me and tell me when to be still
As I live in your will each and everyday
I see so much envy sometimes I don’t know what to say
So I keep my thoughts on you and pray for us all
Knowing that you will forever hear my call
This gives me encouragement and a bright smile each day
And the faith and confidence that things will go your way

You Are My Everything

When I feel a little lonely or sometimes bored
You brighten up my day with a work of yours
The intelligence that you permit me to have
Give me reason to be humble and never really sad
This world is filled with attitude, anger and stress
So continue to give me reason and strength to do my best
You’ve taken the lust out of my life
And replaced it with love for you in my heart
So promise me that you and I will never be apart

Memories Last Forever

Memories last forever as life passes on
So live your life so that
You can have good memories
So you continue to grow strong
When you live in God’s will
Each day will be bright
You will have no need to fear
And no need for strife
The pain of life can sometimes be so unbearable
When you learn to be still
And put your trust and faith in God
He will send you a miracle

My God Has Given Me

My God has given me everything I need
So now I shall live the rest of my life planting Godly seeds
And pray right now for a time of peace for this world to share
No anger no envy no confusion just everyone feeling the need to care

The Events In This World

The events in this world of today are extraordinary really
Or can’t you see, so open up your eyes and just say hi,
And such world this could be
Do not live in anger, jealousy, confusion or greed
Pray to the Lord ask Him what’s best for you only
He can fulfill your needs
Don’t be fooled by the ways of the world
For it shall only make you blind
Never to see the ecstasy
Which comes only from the divine
