Michelle Braithwaite

Michelle BraithwaiteMichelle Braithwaite, born in Georgetown, Guyana, has been living in the USA for over 30 years. She has three beautiful sisters, two brothers, many nieces and nephews, and a generous and God-fearing mother, whom she loves and adores.

Michelle is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree and is pursuing a Master’s Degree as an Executive Specialty Track. After graduation she aspires to work in a hospital and to become an advocate for those who are unable to get the medical care they need, providing them with information to make better healthcare decisions.

Michelle is dedicated to the patients she serves and pairs up her professionalism and medical knowledge with genuine care and compassion.

Michelle first volunteered with the Little Brothers during our annual Thanksgiving holiday gift basket outreach in 2017, extending her hands to cheer up our elders desiring to age in place. Being a visiting nurse with many elderly patients, Michelle has witnessed firsthand how isolation can lead to depression and be a leading factor of declining health.

Recently Michelle has volunteered her time and talents as an Elder Assessment Volunteer. In that critical role, Michelle acts as an interface between the elder, the referring party, and LFBE during the assessment phase. Relying on her observations and feedback, we can make better decisions regarding an elder’s LBFE eligibility into our programs.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, meeting new people and attending her church at New Life Center of Truth. Last but not least, Michelle is also making an annual trip to Georgetown at the Palms nursing home where 300 care packages (deodorants, toothbrush, clothing) are distributed to its elderly residents.

Thank you so much, Michelle, for being a positive a role model in your field and for lending your expertise to further our mission of reducing isolation amongst elderly New Yorkers. With such help, we can make New York City a kinder place to grow older.
